Saeco Aroma Espresso Machine Review
Oodles of espresso machines – how can you select the right one?
Maybe you feel like I do that the large number of espresso machines available is baffling – there seem to be really too many brands and models to contemplate, plus the prices are all over the lot from really cheap machines to “Rolls Royce” espresso makers in the thousands of dollars. I have evaluated over a hundred espresso machines for this website, and I hope the ideas here will be of assistance to you in making a sound selection.
The Saeco Aroma machine – great-tasting coffee, uncomplicated operation, and priced for most budgets
At the completion of my reviewing all these machines, my observation was that the high-end espresso machines were good at making satisfactory espresso and other coffee drinks, but they were a little tricky to operate. And the cut-rate, inexpensive machines could not deliver acceptable espresso or other coffee drinks. But my search led me to discovering an excellent choice: The Saeco Aroma espresso machine – it brews superior espresso, is effortless to operate, and is a good value for the money.

Is there really any taste difference between all the different machines?
Possibly, but only to a small degree, unless you are an employee at Starbucks. I have concluded that espresso machines that are lower-priced than the Saeco Aroma espresso machine made mostly second-rate drinks. But I was unable to determine any difference from machines that were more expensive than Saeco’s.
How can the Saeco Aroma espresso machine compete with more expensive machines in terms of taste?
There are three elements to support this – the pump, the portafilter, and the water temperature.
(1) The Saeco Aroma espresso machine draws out the most flavor from the coffee beans because it uses the same 15 Bar Vibratory pump as more expensive machines.
(2) When you put your ground coffee into the Saeco portafilter holder, the machine provides the right amount of pressure to force the near-boiling water through the coffee grinds – Saeco has a patent on that process. And so you don’t need to be concerned about how hard or soft to tamp down the grinds in the portafilter. The result is that you get perfect crema on top, the essence of truly excellent espresso.
(3) The Saeco espresso machine’s boiler heats up the water to the proper temperature for great espresso drinks – 186 to 193 degrees Fahrenheit.
Very easy to operate – just 2 controls
The Saeco espresso machine uses the K.I.S.S. system (Keep It Simple Stupid). Just push a button to start up the water heating process, insert the pressurized portafilter that you fill with ground espresso beans (or standard ESE coffee pods) into the Saeco espresso machine, and then push the second switch to start the espresso brewing process. There’s nothing else to do. The Saeco Aroma espresso machine also makes it very easy to make lattes and cappuccinos with its steaming wand (with the elegant name, “Panarello”). In no time at all the water will reach steaming temperatures, and then you place the Panarello wand into your carafe or cup holding the milk, turn the steam knob on the machine and the milk will foam up automatically.
Is there any information about the Saeco company, and are they reputable?
I was a little nervous about this so I checked into the company (especially since they don’t have a very “espresso” – sounding name). Here is what I learned about the Saeco company: it is located in Bologna, Italy and was founded by Sergio Zappella in 1976. Saeco is the largest espresso machine company in Europe, and is a part of the Philips Electronics company (a $35 Billion company).
Have any problems turned up about the Saeco machine?
I honestly searched the internet looking for adverse comments about the machine, and the only unfavorable ones I could find were about the steaming wand: some users felt it was a little too long, so it was a bit hard getting a large cup of milk under the wand. Most people who commented about this said it was not really that important since all you need to do is use a smaller container, or put the Saeco Aroma machine on something like a thick cutting board to raise it up.
The Saeco Aroma Machine – a good value for the money
If you are trying to find an espresso maker that is easy to work, is a good value for the money and brews up really excellent-tasting espresso, I don’t think you will go wrong with the Saeco Aroma espresso machine. And customer comments are very favorable, plus if you buy it through Amazon, there is a money back guarantee in any event, which is what respectable companies do.

Here are some Saeco owner comments I found helpful:
“This machine is crazy easy to use, and produces fantastic espresso. The different layers of espresso are pulled flawlessly; the milk frothing mechanism works like magic. I really can’t think of anything to critique negatively. If you buy this machine, you will have first of all, gotten the best deal on any espresso machine, and second of all, creamy, decadent espresso drinks and shots every single time.”
“This machine works great, it is heavy duty metal case and does delicious creamy espresso. If you get it from Amazon you will get the best service ever!”
“I did a lot of research before committing the funds to buy this machine and I have not been disappointed. This is a high quality machine and the customer service has been excellent when I had questions. I make 6 shots of espresso per day and this machine feels like it will last a long time.”
“It makes consistently great espresso. I’ve been using this machine for the past couple weeks and so far I love it! It looks great on the counter, doesn’t take up much space, it seems solidly built and I couldn’t be happier with the quality of the drinks I’ve been making with it. I’m a latte/cappuccino drinker so I can’t really comment on the subtleties of a good espresso shot but the shots look great, they have plenty of crema and the milk based drinks are just delicious, much better than what I get at the local coffee shops.”
